Visit to the Hokianga.

Erin has just completed a short trip to Omapere and Opononi in the Hokianga to check out the FOOTPRINTS, Hokianga guided night walk to the two largest Kauri trees in the world. Tawhiri, our guide, gifted us a very special evening, offering of his knowledge and his beautiful voice. Prayers, waiata (songs) and insights lifted our spirits to a real communication with the beings of the forest and especially the beings of those most amazing trees. Thanks to Tawhiri and FOOTPRINTS Hokianga!

A day spent with Jim (Hemi) Taranaki of Omapere in his home sharing his insight and artistic ability to bring the carver out in those who took part. We designed and carved our way to beautiful bone pendants by the end of the day. Just $50 for the day (including lunch). We began at 9 am and I finally came to a satisfying close at about 3 pm. You have all the time you need to take the artistic process through to its end. And what a gratifying environment. Not only did we enter into his home but into his heart as well - many thanks Jim!

Northern Adventure offered by The Saint Coachlines will bring you into the heart of the Hokianga - the people.
